Third Grade Curriculum and Instruction
Biomes
Students in third grade learned about different types of biomes on our Earth. They learned about the climate of each one, and the animals that live there. Understanding the characteristics of each biome, students discussed the traits of animals that help them survive in that habitat. Third graders learned how the weather and temperature of areas affect the organisms living there. They created posters to share all the information they learned.
Animal Adaptations
Students in third grade learned about how animals have different adaptations that help them live in their biome. They discussed how these adaptations help animals survive in their habitat. Students also completed experiments to understand how adaptations are like tools that help animals. They used chopsticks and tongs to see how different beaks help birds pick up seeds.
